Developing a leisure activity program for students with autism using the Living Lab method

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand the needs of students with autism disorders and their families by applying the Living Lab method, and, on this basis, to evaluate the effectiveness of the program by developing and applying a leisure activity support program reflecting the characteristics of the disability. have. To achieve this goal, this study organized a Living Lab with disabled people, their families, service providers, and experts to understand the needs of students with autistic disorders and to develop a prototype program. Through the operation of the Living Lab, the need for a leisure activity program reflecting the immersion characteristics of students with autism disorders was confirmed. As a result of developing and implementing a prototype program on this basis, participants self-expression ability improved, which provided an opportunity to learn social norms. Moreover, the Living Lab method employed innovation to reflect social values ??in the process of jointly developing programs necessary for real life through the participation of students with disabilities as well as their families and various stakeholders. These results suggest the usefulness of applying the Living Lab method was suggested when developing programs in the field of welfare for the disabled.
